Barack’s Branding

One thing that’s pretty noticable in the Democratic Primary campaign is Obama’s branding. From the very recognizable ‘O’ logo to the use of the web and social media, Obama’s camp really has it nailed. Newsweek’s Stumper blog interviewed Pentagram’s Michael Bieruit, one of the world’s most respected designers, about the success of the Obama brand. [...]

Nailed it: Radiohead

I’ve got a post over at the Teehan+Lax blog discussing one of my favorite bands, Radiohead, and their innovative marketing strategy.

Gift Guide Smackdown

I’ve been keeping busy researching various Gift Guides for a current project and I thought I’d pause to share some findings. Just so I don’t mislead, this isn’t a guide in itself, it’s my thoughts on the various approaches to creating a Gift Guide.

The Simpsons in Couture

To date, this is my most favorite campaign for the Simpsons Movie, coming out next week. Harper’s new spread has The Simpsons touring Paris, with guide Linda Evangelista in tow, to mingle with the more prominent members of the couture fashion industry.
The illustrations here are spot-on when you compare them to the originals.

Site Launch: AOL Media Network

A major source of information about advertising on key properties such as CBC.ca and The New York Times, the AOL Media Network site needed a refresh to cater to new and returning media buyers. The goal was to inform interested parties about the benefits of advertising via AOL while giving returning clients and internal [...]

N’Oh Canada

Official word today that, like the iTunes music store launch a few years ago, Canadians are not on the immediate agenda for Apple’s iPhone launch. This doesn’t surprise me seeing as they really have to get it right in their local (although massive) market first before expanding internationally. Tough news for technology fans up here. [...]

This Coke can is talking to my phone

The NY Times is reporting that shot codes, a method to transmit media to your mobile phone by scanning them, may be taking off in the Americas soon.
UPDATE: More information via Qode, the main provider of this technology.

Collection of Style

H&M launches it’s new line, Collection of Style. H&M, in my opinion, is the JetBlue of the fashion industry, offering low-cost, high-fashion clothing. COS differs from it’s sister-brand by offering higher quality materials at only a small increase in price. (I imagine if JetBlue had an executive class this would be the analogy I would [...]
