Punta Cana gets TNT and ESPN!

So I committed vacation blasphemy and stayed in the hotel room for a good portion of my trip to the beautiful Dominican Republic to watch the NBA Playoffs. That’s where I saw my beloved Raps fall in a very close Game 6 to the Nets. I was going to write about how the Raps inexperience [...]

Down, Not Out

A final thought before I leave for my vacation where I’ll (unfortunatley) be completely disconnected from what’s happening in the NBA Playoffs.
Chris Broussard, a very respected sports journalist for ESPN, had some interesting words today after the Raps suffered a blowout loss in Game 3 of their opening round series against the Nets.
“Cleveland will be [...]

Raptor Recap

I know hindsight is 20/20 but it’s still a little vindicating to read previous predictions of the Raptors’ season now that they’re on their way to clinching the 2nd or 3rd seed in the East. Simmons will be the first to admit he was wrong but did he really believe the Raps would sink to [...]

Pick up Playboy…for the articles

According to Henry at TrueHoop, Playboy hired freelance writer Kevin Cook to interview Steve Nash. TH has a nice recap but I’d pick it up to read more from one of this generations most profound athletes. (Thx Henry).

Back to the Playoffs!

Raps advance to the playoffs for the first time since ‘02. I was there at the last playoff game, a win against Detroit, with my sis. Here’s to hoping they get either a banged-up and inconsistent Washington or Miami team in the first round. Go Raps!

“I don’t believe it!”

Neither did me and my cousins, Chuck.  And yeah, the Raps win this one behind some solid OT play by Chris Bosh.

LA Lukers

By the way, one thing I can say after watching all these Lakers games is that Luke Walton is the winning key here. When he’s healthy the Lakers win. Period. He creates open shots with his totally underrated passing and he’s sick from the perimeter. He dribble-drives like a guard and collapses defenses as good [...]

Grizz vs Lake Show

Though I’m a bit of a Lakers fan, I said to myself before I sat down to watch last night’s game “this is it for Kobe, he’ll jack up 29 shots and knock down maybe 10.” Well, I was close.
But Bryant’s poor play shouldn’t overshadow the effort by a young Memphis team playing [...]

Adidas, Arenas, Athlete

In case you’re wondering, the background music in Gilbert Arenas’ ‘Impossible is Nothing’ ad is the title track from Athlete’s 2005 album, Tourist. There was a time it was in heavy rotation on my iPod and if you listen to the chorus it’s somewhat appropriate for the ad.

THE Toronto Raptors

I always love how pro-football players announce that they’re from “THE Ohio State” in opening game introductions. So, I want to use the same amount of passion to tell people which NBA franchise I’m so fondly a fan of - “THE Toronto Raptors”.
Tomorrow night, I’m watching the Bucks vs Raptors game — the fifth game [...]
