Raptors Season Opener Recap

Nice game last night between the Raptors and Philly. Raps lead most of the way and won 106-97 behind some very balanced scoring from Bargnani, Bosh, Ford, Parker and Calderon. I was really impressed at how athletic and quick the 76ers were. They’re one or two vets (or years) away from making some noise in [...]

Raps’ Season Opener

The Raptors’ season kicks off tonight and I’ll be in attendance for the 3rd consecutive season (Thanks, Rishan). This time, I didn’t forget the camera so I’ll have some nice pics to post tomorrow.
Until then, entertain yourself with the most underrated topic of fan discussion every year: Team logo, jersey and court redesigns.

KG to Boston: Initial Thoughts

7 for 1? Wow
Forget the finals, Boston still isn’t a lock to win the Atlantic (no one to run the show at the point)
I am old enough to remember the Herschel Walker trade (and I was living in Dallas in the time) so I can make that comparison
Doesn’t remind me of the Lakers of ‘04, [...]

NBA Stat Visualization

Not often I get to write about two of the topics of this blog in one posting, but this beautifully thought out graph showing PPG data in relation to players’ offensive/defensive tendencies is just awesome. (via True Hoop)

Welcome, Carlos Delfino

It’s not often that a hypothetical trade that you talk about amongst friends actually materializes. Especially when the trade doesn’t involve a star player. However, ESPN is reporting that Carlos Delfino has been acquired by my beloved Raps for a couple of draft picks.
Delfino is an explosive guard/forward combo guard who can get to the [...]

No. 23 Strikes (again)

Probably one of the best individual playoff performances I’ve seen in a long time came last night as LeBron James (and some other guys standing near him in the same uniform) took a 3-2 series lead against Detroit in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The recap and box score are here, but nothing beat actually watching LeBron [...]

Punta Cana gets TNT and ESPN!

So I committed vacation blasphemy and stayed in the hotel room for a good portion of my trip to the beautiful Dominican Republic to watch the NBA Playoffs. That’s where I saw my beloved Raps fall in a very close Game 6 to the Nets. I was going to write about how the Raps inexperience [...]

Down, Not Out

A final thought before I leave for my vacation where I’ll (unfortunatley) be completely disconnected from what’s happening in the NBA Playoffs.
Chris Broussard, a very respected sports journalist for ESPN, had some interesting words today after the Raps suffered a blowout loss in Game 3 of their opening round series against the Nets.
“Cleveland will be [...]

Raptor Recap

I know hindsight is 20/20 but it’s still a little vindicating to read previous predictions of the Raptors’ season now that they’re on their way to clinching the 2nd or 3rd seed in the East. Simmons will be the first to admit he was wrong but did he really believe the Raps would sink to [...]

Pick up Playboy…for the articles

According to Henry at TrueHoop, Playboy hired freelance writer Kevin Cook to interview Steve Nash. TH has a nice recap but I’d pick it up to read more from one of this generations most profound athletes. (Thx Henry).
