The NBA: 20% Outsourced

Jose Calderon leads the league in FT% and assist-TO ratio

USA Today has a breakdown of international players in the NBA and how they’re performing. It makes sense that the cream from a much larger crop would have such an impact on the league.

I was wondering what the international to North American ratio was the other night watching the Raptors play (They have 4 international players on their roster representing Spain, Italy, Australia and Croatia) and I put it at about 2 per team. But at 20% of a fifteen man roster that’s actually 3. No surprise a multi-cultural city like Toronto is over-represented at 4.

(Note: Oddly, the defending champion Boston Celtics are the only team with zero international players.)
